If you are looking for gaming jobs, here’s what you need to know

Mar 14, 2019 | Careers blog

There are many myths about gaming jobs out there. If you have ever dreamt of landing your first job in a gaming related field, here’s what you need to know.

You will be part of a dynamically growing industry

According to Entertainment Software Association and The NPD Group, Video game revenue in 2018 reached a new peak of $43.8 billion, up 18 percent from the previous years, surpassing the projected total global box office for the film industry.  It’s equally important that many forms of secondary content have popped up around games, such as the growing stage for e-Sports, forums, and sites dedicated to game content. This exciting mix makes this industry one of the most exciting to work in.

Being successful requires dedication and hard work

Yes, and this is utterly true especially when we’re talking about landing a gaming job. The gaming industry is incredibly competitive, but there are examples out there to prove that if you love something and you are patient hard-worker, you can be successful. It might take time to get where you want to be. At the end of the day, you will be happier than ever before, doing what you love (and getting paid for it).

You might make friends for life

Being part of a community is one of the elements that attracts many people to seek gaming jobs. Having shared interests and being able to geek out with your colleagues can make you feel like part of the geeky family. And for many, this feeling of belonging is a number one reason for pursuing a career in gaming. Working with other gamers in the industry means sharing experiences outside of work as well which at the end, might get you great friends for many years to come!

Not only the software developer’s jobs

Fortunately, there are many more options from which to choose from, both on the technical, business and community management side. All of those can take advantage of your passion for gaming and technology. Whether you are a talented writer, result-oriented marketeer or you are a people-oriented person with the ability to find solutions, you might find your dream job in the gaming industry.

Are you a geek? Welcome!

Many people are scared even to consider that they could start their career in a gaming-related field if they don’t spend a lot of time playing video games.  However, you don’t have to fit that exactly at all times. If you are geeky and you are passionate about gaming and tech you will find plenty of exciting opportunities within the gaming job market.

If you have a passion for gaming or tech and you are looking for an exciting challenge in a fast-growing company, look no further! At 5CA we offer customer support positions for our gaming and tech clients. You can either work remotely or in our Dutch office, depending on your skill set.
